Caliphate as the measure of all things: Towards the issue of international relations theory studies in terms of Islamic religious tradition

Abstract

The article focuses on the problem of Islamic view on the theory of international relations. Author analyses different aspects of this problem in the wide historical context. The research is focused on the idea of Caliphate, the worldwide Islamic state. The special attention is paid to different approaches to the idea of Caliphate: the approach of the Shia, the approach of the moderate and the radical Sunnis. Author sees the direct connection between medieval religious theories and contemporary situation in the Middle East, where radical Sunni try to create perfect Islamic state in Iraq and Syria. Besides, in this article considerable attention is paid tothe Arabic socialist doctrine, which developed a special view on the theory of international relations.
