The article analyzes the relations between Russia and the European Union with Belarus and Ukraine. The emphasis is made on the nature of cooperation with Kiev and Minsk which is crucial to the success of integration projects оn Moscow and Brussels. The author pays attention to the fact that Kiev and Minsk represent different models of relations with Russia and the EU, and therefore require from Moscow and Brussels to focus special attention on the instruments that they use in these countries to increase their influence. Achievements and challenges which the EU and Russia are facing in these countries, the prospects for their relations with Ukraine and Belarus are assessed.
