The article analyses the transformation of the role of Argentina as a key actor in the free trade agreement negotiations between the EU and Mercosur in 2003–2018. Particular attention is paid to coverage of the current state of the negotiation process in connection with the latest changes in the regional and international contexts. The author also considers the efforts undertaken by the Argentinean authorities to sign the agreement.
