Abstract

In November 2018 the XXVI Ibero-American Summit will take place in Guatemala. These forums of the top leaders of the Iberian and Latin American States have been held since 1991 and are the institutional framework combining countries akin in their historical and cultural parameters and located on both sides of the Atlantic. Strengthening mutual economic, political and cultural ties, these meetings gradually form a common Ibero-American space, a kind of meta-region, able to become a field of trade-economic and political- diplomatic interaction between the European Union and Latin America, and in the future to be one of the poles of a multipolar world.
