The article investigates the Muslim community in Spain, its relations with the native population in the Middle Ages and nowadays. Much attention is given to the problem of adaptation of the Muslims. Political and legal status of the Muslims and the Muslim organizations in contemporary Spain is also examined. The article provides some insight into the characteristics of the radical islamist movement in this country.
