The article considers the problems, which become challenges for the political parties in Western Europe and Russia. The paper pays key attention to the social and political challenges of the globalization. The article analyzed the reasons of popularity of right-wing and left-wing radical parties and also the transformation of the political landscape and the new alignment of political forces in European countries. The material also shows that in Russia genuine political parties in the Western sense have not yet arisen, and the dominant position belongs to the bureaucratic structure, so called «ruling power» – «Edinaya Rossia»
