One of the key elements of the modern crisis in the relations between the Euro-Atlantic community and Russia is the fact that the parties took military-political steps against each other. The article considers the actions of NATO member states, geared to increase the Alliance’s military presence in Eastern Europe. The contemporary situation is compared with the period of classic cold war. The author concludes that the reasons for tighter Western course towards Russia are deep-rooted and outlines its prospects.
