This article focuses on the interaction mechanisms between Rouhani’s Iran and Putin’s Russia in the Middle East. The authors resort to systemic analysis as well as to a structural-functional approach and adhere to neorealism. The authors conclude that the positions of both Russia and Iran on their bilateral relations are realistic although there are controversies between them on regional and global scale. Nevertheless, there exist prerequisites for their bilateral relations to be strengthened.
