Abstract

The article evaluates the position of Slavic ethnic minorities which accepted Islam in the period of the Ottoman Empire control over the Balkans. The authors give special attention to contemporary processes of changing identity of the Balkan nations, their religious and national revival as well as to growing islamisation and turkisation of the Balkans where the fragmentation of civilizational space is under way.
