Abstract

This article introduces a thematic volume of the journal «Current problems of Europe» that examines perspectives on Europe’s development as perceived by both Europeans and external observers. The volume focuses on general issues of domestic and foreign policies of the European Union as a whole and of its key members, as well as on specific topics related to security issues, the implementation of artificial intelligence, the development of defense technologies, and the European Union’s relations with Great Britain and the United States of America. As is often the case, Europeans themselves view the unfolding situation much more positively than external observers. The materials presented in this volume show that the outside world conditions further relations with the European Union on its ability to overcome economic and political challenges. At the same time, the Europeans are quite actively seeking ways to overcome current problems and are trying to implement new ideas in the economy, technology, military capability development, and the consolidation of international influence.
