In the 2010 s the African direction, first of all the Sahel and the Horn of Africa, became one of the key areas for Germany in the sphere of ensuring peace and security. In this regard the article investigates the features of military and diplomatic tools usage by Germany in the sphere of conflict settlement referring to the cases of Mali and Somali. The paper explores what forms of the use of the Bundeswehr are the most effective, and also compares the scale of German activity in two focused countries.
