The article considers the key points of the current Mexican-Spanish cooperation. The author gives an overview of the achievements of Mexico’s cultural, economic and trade ties with Spain, which became much more active with the coming to power in Mexico of a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, Enrique Peña Nieto. The paper also analyzes the «destabilizing effect» provided by the political course of the new US President Donald Trump in relation to Mexico, threatening the political and economic success of the Spanish-Mexican relations.
