The article examines specific features of US and NATO’s activities in Afghanistan after their military invasion of the country in late 2001, up to the final decision concerning the ISAF-NATO withdrawal by late 2014. Reasons of the failure of the mission as well as peculiarities of approach to the Afghan issue, showed by some neighboring countries, especially SCO members, are under review too.
