The article explores the framework of cooperation between the EC / West and the Arab countries in the post-bipolar era. Using empirical data, the author examines the overwhelming events of 2001–2011, generated by a complex combination of external and internal factors that have a specific configuration for every country. It is concluded that on-going Islamization of political space in the region can be regarded as consistent and modern.
