This paper reviews the impact of the current financial and economic crisis on migration processes in the European Union. The changes in migration management and attitudes of society and political elites to migration in the new socio-economic context are analysed. The author makes an attempt to understand whether the immigrants are regarded now mostly as economic agents rather than security threats.
